MAL Watson continued his good run at Moorlands with a win in the Saturday open competition.
Watson beat the 25-peg entry by fishing pellet at 12 metres against the aerator to take 67 F1 carp, giving the Daiwa Gordon League star an unbeatable 60lbs 4oz total.
Runner-up was Mick Henshall (Fosters) with a skimmer and F1 net of 46-12, and third was Wayne Mellings (Maver Midlands) with a 46-5 mixed bag.
The over 50s contest at the Bank and Moors pools saw Clive Wright (Mossella) take 55-14 of F1s to the scales.
Mellings came second from Bank pool peg seven with 18-12 and third was Brian Rathbone (St Francis AC) weighing 17-8.
Tomorrow sees Gary Kirkham continue with his open contests on the canal at Stoke Works.
He also has a pairs league at the same venue in the new year and can be contacted on 07545-569811.
Prospects: With the Severn up and coloured and the Avon low and clear, anglers can head for the Wye where Belmont provides good sport.
Pete Pembridge has an open contest at the venue on Sunday, January 8. Ring him on 01432-270706.
