MANAGER Jamie Pitman insists he is happy with the current state of the Hereford United squad.

Following the opening of the January transfer window, the Bulls have been able to ship out players eating up their budget and make some loan deals permanent.

Defender Janos Kovacs, believed to be one of the club’s highest earners, has moved to Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Luton Town, while striker Sean Canham has joined Bath City until the end of the season.

That has allowed former Oxford United midfielder Simon Clist and versatile ex-Swindon player Will Evans to pen 18-month deals.

Nathan Elder has also signed following a successful loan spell and fellow striker Tom Barkhuizen has extended his stay from Blackpool until the end of the season.

Pitman has not ruled out further business this month but believes he has a good balance ahead of today’s npower League Two trip to Dagenham and Redbridge (3pm).

“I’m very pleased with the transfer deals we have done over the last week,” he said.

“Simon has been very consistent. He’s a great professional who does everything you ask of him and is an example to the younger players.

“He has performed in a number of different positions and that’s very important too. Now it is a case of making sure that everyone is performing to the level they need to to get us out of trouble.”
