WORCESTER City have approached the Warriors about the possibility of sharing Sixways while they wait for a new home to be built.
The Blue Square Bet North club have to leave St George’s Lane in June 2013 so it can be bulldozed for housing by Careys New Homes.
Property developers St Modwen gained planning permission for a stadium at Nunnery Way last month but there is no guarantee that it will be ready in time.
City expect to be homeless for at least the 2013/14 season and are looking at options for a temporary ground-share with vice-chairman Colin Layland saying the club had not ruled out opening a dialogue with the Warriors.
“That’s not out of the equation,” he said. “We have made contact with managing director Charlie Little and we are hoping to have talks with him.
“There’s nothing concrete, it’s another option but we haven’t got anything in black and white.”
It is the first time the current City board have approached the Aviva Premiership outfit although the odds are stacked against a deal being done.
Using the main stadium pitch is unlikely to be attractive to the rugby club in terms of operating costs and would also bring up the issue of primacy of tenure — as landlords, Warriors’ fixtures would take priority.
Sixways is one of several options being considered to provide City with a short-term home but Warriors managing director Little has so far declined to comment.
Another venue being looked at is Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground.
Officials from the Blue Square Bet North club visited the site last Saturday and renting at the Athium Midland Combination Division One promotion-chasers remains realistic.
City have raised concerns about the quality of the floodlights, which are currently below the standard required for the Conference, and number of turnstiles, but feel those problems are not insurmountable.
Layland, who headed up the scouting mission, added: “It remains an option and I would leave it on the table. The infrastructure is in place and it ticks all the boxes.
“If the league looked at it they might see different things but my main concern would be the ground’s floodlights.”
Redditch United, Kidderminster Harriers and Evesham United are other possibilities with the latter currently long-term tenants at the Lane before the expected move to their new Cheltenham Road ground later this year.

it wouldn't be good for the town to have a proper football club anyway. It's quite nice having such a terrible side. It means we can focus on proper sports like rugby and cricket. Stop pretending football is good. Man up and realise rugby is better. This is farmer county and rugby is what we do.

What idiots, the fans managed to squander £5M and made WCFC homeless; so they are now going round with their begging bowl asking/demanding that others help them out of their self-engineered disaster.

When I first came to live in Worcester I went to watch WCFC with a view to becoming a regular supporter. I quickly forgot the idea when I encountered some of the most repulsive, self-opinionated, and arrogant specimens of humanity that I have ever met anywhere. I only went twice!
I am not surprised that they have almost bankrupted their football club!
Out of desperation they obviously want somebody to rescue them, but their problems are totally self-inflicted by their sheer stupidity.

Dont know why this is being suggested. There is a covenient on the land restricting it to rugby use only so moving the football club there even for a short time is not even an option.

I see that the poison brigade from WCFC are out in droves.
These are the people who I decided I wanted nothing to do with when I first arrived in Worcester, and they can turn any argument upside down and distort the truth at will.
Let them rot in their two tin huts by the motorway says I!

you are unable to debate a subject but instead turn to abusing those who you disagree with.
If you hate Worcester so much then LEAVE. You will not be missed

Not rude at all, just saying you need a little exercise and need to get on your bike.
As many have said 'glory supporters'.

Given that neither Worcester nor Ospreys could progress to the finals, not a shabby turn-out - especially considering the weather?

What a shame that a city such as Worcester has such poor sporting teams to represent it or is it a true reflection of it residents. The football team has been an embarrassment for many years. The cricket team has won major honors in the past but this will never happen again and as for the rugby team manufactured by an individual they have great facilities for a rugby club but no tradition no trophies and no class. Worcester is not a rugby city unlike the likes of Gloucester and Leicester and will always struggle in the top division.

Try looking up 1979 - it seems to be your number. Unlucky if you werent one of the 8,000+ crammed into SGL for the Kettering win.
Worcester City had a successful period in the late 50's that attracted many youngsters of that time to become lifelong fans. And then again in the late 70s.
It is undeniable that the Club hasnt had any phase as successful since then - which is all anyone under the age of 40 will have seen.
Doesnt stop their long-standing fans from following them. But it is fair to say it also hasnt attracted a major new following. But crowds are on the up this season, and a lot more youngsters around.
