TWO Kidderminster Harriers players are in the England ‘C’ squad to face Italy later this month.

Top-scorer Jamille Matt and Mickey Demetriou are in coach Paul Fairclough’s 16-man party for the International Challenge Trophy Group ‘A’ match at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday, February 28.

Matt has bagged 14 goals for the Aggborough club this season while Demetriou has impressed at left-back and their call-up is recognition for those efforts.

Harriers manager Steve Burr is assistant to Fairclough and the pair have also called up former Kidderminster winger Matt Blair, now at York City.

Meanwhile, Marvin Johnson has the potential to be a success at Harriers, according to assistant manager Gary Whild.

The 21-year-old winger signed an 18-month deal at Aggborough on transfer deadline day after Harriers agreed a four-figure fee with Evo-Stik Northern League Division One South side Romulus.

Johnson was the Sutton Coldfield-based outfit’s leading scorer, netting 18 goals this season, prompting manager Steve Burr to make a move.

He is cup-tied for tomorrow’s FA Trophy third round clash against Luton Town at Aggborough (3pm), but Whild believes they have a player for the future.

He said: “Marvin is someone we’ve been aware of for quite a while and he has obvious potential.

“We have watched him progress – he can play out wide, has a lot of pace and an eye for goal.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the lad to push on again.”
