ENFORCER Dean Schofield is set to add more firepower to Richard Hill’s Worcester Warriors boiler-room after agreeing to join the Sixways club for next season.

The twice-capped England international, who turned 33 in January, is currently playing for mega-rich Toulon in the French Top 14, but has agreed a return to these shores and will move to Sixways this summer.

Although he is in the autumn of his career, Schofield is still a top-quality lock and will provide yet more of the second row physicality that James Percival has so impressively provided this term.

Without Percival on the pitch, Worcester have at times looked short of a real old-fashioned enforcer, but the signing of 6ft 6ins, 20-stone Schofield will ensure Warriors are never lacking a hard edge in the pack.

The signing is yet another impressive piece of business by Hill, who has overseen a recruitment drive that will send out a real statement of intent to the rest of the Aviva Premiership sides.

Former Sale Sharks lock Schofield will join the likes of England scrum-half Paul Hodgson, Saxons centre Jon Clarke and international wingers Nikki Walker and David Lemi as an exciting Warriors squad for next season continues to take shape.

Schofield, who made his England debut in a defeat to South Africa during a summer tour prior to the 2007 World Cup, also featured for the Saxons in the 2009 Churchill Cup campaign, coming off the bench in the final. Schofield was with Sale from 2001 to 2010, before opting to sign a two-year deal with Top 14 outfit Toulon.
