WORCESTER City have some big games coming up in the last six weeks of the season and we want the crowds to come and support us.

Although we haven’t achieved anything yet, for the campaign to still be alive in March is fantastic and the fans can make a massive difference. I can’t stress how much we need them.

They can make St George’s Lane an intimidating place to play and they don’t realise the impact they can have on the players, even just by singing a few songs and making some noise.

I thought the atmosphere was electric for Monday night’s 2-1 victory against Gainsborough Trinity and there was passion around the ground.

When the first goal went in from Mike Symons there was a roar that I haven’t heard at the Lane for some years.

That made a huge difference because, within a minute or two, we were winning the game through Greg Mills and that’s what the crowd can do for us.

Worcester is a brilliant place to play football when you are winning and the crowd is behind you and I am fortunate enough to have experienced that over a very long time so I know how it can lift you as a player.

Immediately after the match, I got the players together before we left the pitch because I wanted them to lift the crowd, and vice versa, as they went off down the tunnel.

Walking off the pitch at the Lane after a win was the best thing I ever experienced in my career, it gave me such a buzz.

The confidence levels of the players are high at the moment, and rightly so, and the supporters can play a huge part in maintaining that.

We had just short of 700 through the gate on Monday so imagine what could be achieved with four-figure crowds in the remaining five home games. Attendances have the potential to spiral at this club.

The team are playing some great stuff, it’s entertaining to watch and we are in the mix for the play-offs.

All of the squad are good footballers but we have got some tremendously skilful players as well.

We have only been beaten twice at home all season — by Corby and Colwyn Bay — and nobody else has looked like beating us.

It’s inevitable you will lose some games but we are on a decent run with nine games to go and need as much help as we can get. We have got an advantage that we can maximise.

Myself, Matt Gardiner and the players are working incredibly hard to maintain our current form and keep the wins coming.

Over the years I have heard people say they wouldn’t come back to the Lane until the old board had gone or the team was winning.

Well, they’ve got that now so there’s no excuse not to come out and support us because we need our fans now more than ever.
