WORCESTER City will go out with all guns blazing against Hinckley United tomorrow (3pm) as they bid to keep their Blue Square Bet North play-off hopes alive.

City head into the St George’s Lane clash knowing nothing less than an 11th home win of the season will do in their quest to finish in the top five.

Their dream suffered a setback with a 3-0 defeat at Nuneaton Town on Monday but Worcester remain positive with three games to go.

Carl Heeley’s team have only lost twice in 13 league matches and they know three points tomorrow will keep the pressure on the sides above them.

Hinckley, however, top the form table on their travels, winning five and drawing one of their last six, despite being only two points above the relegation zone.

City assistant manager Matt Gardiner said: “Every game at this stage is a cup final and it’s paramount we win the game but we would be trying to do that anyway.

“We have been good at the Lane and want to do the best we possibly can. We are going to be going out all guns blazing to get the win.

“We want to keep it alive to the last game but we know we have to get the results to back that up.

“We can only affect what we do and we need to beat Hinckley.”

Gardiner was keen to put the Nuneaton reverse into perspective and has urged City fans to keep the faith.

He added: “Monday was very disappointing but we have learned a lot and will move on from that.

“The top five clubs are there for a reason. If you compare their resources to what we have, then we are punching above our weight. That’s no disrespect to what Worcester are trying to do but it has been that way for a while.

“The fans have been brilliant and they need to stay with us tomorrow.”

Striker Michael Taylor has been ruled out with an ankle injury, opening the door for Simon Brown or Danny Carey-Bertram, but City also have doubts over other players.

Right-back Dwayne Samuels, centre-half Stuart Whitehead and utility player Tyler Weir have ankle concerns, while left-back Ellis Deeney is struggling with a groin complaint and winger Greg Mills has a rib problem.
