TWO showpiece matches in the Worcester and District League have been postponed.
The Southam Trophy and Phipps Cup finals were due to take place at Worcester City’s St George’s Lane ground on Sunday and next Wednesday respectively.
However, as City are still in with a chance of reaching the Blue Square Bet North play-offs, the club have asked for the matches to be delayed in order to protect the pitch.
Worcester host Hinckley today and Workington on April 28, while tenants Evesham United entertain Cambridge City next Saturday, and they are concerned about the impact of overusing the surface.
It is hoped alternative dates can be arranged at the Lane, otherwise the league will be forced to look for a new venue.
