WORCESTER Wolves play their final two games of the regular season this weekend as they seek to cement second place in the British Basketball League.

Paul James’ team have been trailing Championship winners Newcastle Eagles for most of the campaign and saw their title chances ended with an agonising 85-84 defeat on Tyneside last Friday.

However, they want to keep hold of second position going into the play-offs later this month but Plymouth Raiders and Leicester Riders can still catch them and Wolves play them both in the space of 24 hours.

Leicester visit the University of Worcester tonight (7pm) before Worcester head south to tackle Plymouth tomorrow (4pm).

Wolves have been beaten twice by the Riders this season, losing 91-68 in the East Midlands last month and 99-75 at home in December.

Their record, though, is better against Plymouth having followed up an 89-82 win in Devon in December with a 100-80 success at the university in February.

Head coach James said: “Leicester have had our number this season.

“They have dominated us and stopped us from playing our game so what I’m looking for is a good team performance.

“If we are to get to the final of the play-offs we’re going to have to get through them so we are really focused on what we need to do to beat them.”

James added: “Our goal for the season was to make the play-offs, then we changed it at Christmas to finish in the top four which is something the Wolves have never done before.”
