WORCESTER Warriors have increased their season ticket prices by up to £70 for the 2012-13 campaign.

But the Sixways club have defended the decision after freezing prices for their first season back in the Premiership having slashed them following their relegation to the Championship in 2010.

It also brings Warriors in line with the 11 other clubs in English rugby’s top-flight as Worcester strive to better this year’s 10th-place finish.

Although adult season tickets have risen to £425 in gold areas of the ground and £215 to stand, that is only a respective increase of £25 and £30 on their 2009-2010 season in the Premiership.

Tickets for under 17s begin at £130, while under 10s can get them for free if bought at the same time as a full paying silver or bronze category adult.

The rates are available to new supporters and renewals until July 1 when they increase by £20 in each category.

Packages include entry to all 11 Premiership fixtures at Sixways as well as three home games in the qualifying pool stage of the Amlin Challenge Cup and two LV= Cup matches.

Supporters can also attend all home pre-season friendlies and Aviva ‘A’ League games.

Warriors managing director Charlie Little said: “As a club, we are fortunate to have a loyal and dedicated group of season ticket holders whose ongoing support is crucial to our future.

“Given the current economic climate, we have been determined to keep price increases to an absolute minimum while also balancing the challenges facing professional sporting clubs and our need to maintain investment in our squad and the support experience to drive the club forward.

“Our season ticket prices not only give supporters exceptional value for money compared with normal matchday prices but also represent fantastic value when compared with every other club in the Premiership.”
