WORCESTER’S Chelsea Weston is just glad to avoid Arsenal as she bids for Women’s FA Cup glory on Saturday.

The Birmingham City right-back has twice suffered heartache against the Gunners in League Cup finals with Blues and her previous club Doncaster Rovers Belles.

But this season Super League rivals Chelsea, their opponents at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate in front of the Sky Sports cameras (12.15pm), knocked out Arsenal 2-0 to Weston’s delight.

The 22-year-old from Warndon Villages said: “Everyone is really excited about this game and it’s nice to play a team other than Arsenal as it always seems to be them in the final.

“It’s going to be a very even match, though. We know we can beat Chelsea if we play the way we are able to. But we will not be going into the final in a complacent manner.

“We haven’t started the season as well as we did last year which was the first campaign for the new league. But we haven’t lost yet and are second in the table after four fixtures.”

The former Doncaster player, in her second stint with the Blues, also hopes to catch the eye of the England senior selectors.

Weston currently plays for England Under 23s, having turned 22 in January, after working her way up through the national youth set-up.

However, the squad only play friendlies and hold training camps so the former pupil of Elgar Technology College, now Tudor Grange Academy, aims to step up in the future.

Weston has the UEFA Champions League round of 32 to look forward to in September after Blues finished second in the 2011 Super League behind Arsenal.
