OLD Elizabethans emerged with a five-wicket victory from their all-Worcestershire clash with Barnards Green.

Jamie Alford took 4-31 as Green were dismissed for 108 before Joe Taylor, with an unbeaten 40, guided OEs into fifth place in Birmingham and District Premier League Division Two.

Eastnor took over at the top of the table after their 87-run success over previous leaders Brewood.

Faisal Khalid hit 53 in an Eastnor total of 179-9 in 55 overs with Morne Heyneke taking 4-29 for Brewood, who collapsed to 92 all out after tea.

Shahid Ahmed (3-12) and Atiq ur-Rehman(3-18) did the damage.

Harborne deepened Evesham’s troubles with a five-wicket win at Albert Road after the hosts were restricted to 184-7 in 50 overs.

Ian Butler took 4-42 before Nasir Ali Khan’s unbeaten 73 eased Harborne into the top half of the table.

Kidderminster Victoria claimed a 14-point Premier Division winning draw at Shrewsbury after scoring 211-8 from 55 overs and then restricting the hosts to 200-7.

In freezing conditions on a wicket that at times favoured both seam and spin, Shrewsbury won the toss and elected to field.

KVCC openers Matt Pardoe and Andy Kimberlin put on 46 by the 11th over when the latter was run out for five.

Pardoe was joined by his Worcestershire colleague Neil Pinner but, with only three more runs added, departed for 37. Zac Turley, with two sixes in his 64, and Pinner then staged a stand of 132 inside 30 overs.

Green’s spin bowling had further success when Jamie Brighton was caught-and-bowled for one.

The scoreboard soon showed 186-5 when Pinner was bowled after scoring 61 in two hours.

KVCC suddenly found life difficult, only adding 25 runs in the remaining eight overs.

There was a sensational start to the Shrewsbury innings as skipper Ed Foster was out for a duck in the first over, bowled by Richard Kimberlin.

With the score on 48, Mark Mansell (2-55) took the next wicket and then kept Shrewsbury under control along with Pinner while also claiming a good caught-and-bowled.

Pinner (2-59) bagged the next two wickets and the hosts were on 139-5 with seven overs left.

A good catch on the boundary by John Rowan off Richard Kimberlin (2-43) and a Tom Kimberlin stumping off Jonathan Wright further restricted Shrewsbury, who hung on for the draw.

Berkswell recorded a 38-run win over fellow promoted side Brockhampton, who were dismissed for 75 in response to the home side’s 113.

The match was reduced to 33 overs per side and the Berkswell total owed much to Warwickshire past and present in the shape of Dominic Ostler and Ian Westwood.

Skipper Ostler hit 38 but former county captain Westwood top-scored with 43 before Babar Khan produced 5-4 to demolish the Brockhampton innings.

Earlier, Herefordshire all-rounder David Exall took 4-34 for Brockhampton.

The weather was less kind to clubs in Division One where the match between Walmley and Ombersley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Bromsgrove made up ground on the leaders following a winning draw against Kenilworth Wardens, who, in a 33-overs-per-side match, finished on 120-5 in response to Bromsgrove’s 169-8.

Jayden Levitt was top-scorer for Bromsgrove with 58 and Keith Bell carried his bat for 63 for Wardens.
