SOHAIL Tanvir will not be joining Worcestershire for their Friends Life t20 campaign after further problems processing his visa.
The Pakistani international was originally due to join the New Road club for the start of their 20-over matches, but has still not been able to get the green light to travel to England.
With little light at the end of the tunnel and FL t20 games fast running out, Worcestershire have decided to pull the plug on the deal. They will not be bringing in another overseas player to replace Tanvir.
Chief executive David Leatherdale said: “It has been well documented that obtaining visas for overseas professionals is becoming more and more difficult, particularly with the amount of time international players spend away from their home country, and we are very disappointed that Sohail won’t be joining us.
“However, with just four matches remaining in the group stage of our 2012 Friends Life t20 campaign and still no guarantee that the visa process has been completed in Pakistan, his stay with the club is no longer practical.
“We thank Sohail for his efforts in doing everything he could in order to obtain the visa and wish him every success in the future.”
