WORCESTERSHIRE Royals’ Friends Life t20 clash with Glamorgan was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Swalec Stadium because of rain.

It has become a familiar theme to the Welsh Dragons’ campaign after Monday night’s clash between Glamorgan and Gloucestershire at Bristol was also a total washout.

The Royals clash is the fourth of the Welsh side’s eight games to end up as a no result. It means their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals are now over.

But the Royals’ point from the game keeps up their hopes of reaching the last eight with three of their games remaining in the group.

Rain looked like it had cleared up in Cardiff and the umpires – Steve Garratt and Jeff Evans – had been getting ready for a seven-over contest starting at 8.15pm. But when more heavy rain arrived at the ground they had no other option but to call the match off.
