TRIALISTS Lloyd Macklin and Chris Carruthers will both be hoping to stake their claim for a Hereford United contract tonight.
The duo are expected to line-up against Evesham United at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium (7.45pm) as the Bulls look to build on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Yeovil Town.
Transfer-listed Torquay United striker Macklin, 20, completes his two-game trial tonight, after which manager Martin Foyle will decide whether to keep the player on board. Carruthers, 28, played for Foyle at York City and should get another chance to impress his former boss.
Winger Marley Watkins and right-back Andy Gallinagh, both formerly with Cheltenham Town, and ex-Darlington striker Ryan Bowman could also feature.
However, keeper James Bittner (back) and defenders Michael Townsend (calf) and Joe Heath (groin) will not be risked against the Robins.
Foyle said: “It will be exactly the same people involved tonight and then I will be speaking to them.”
Evesham, beaten 3-0 at home by Newport County on Saturday, are expected to welcome back former Worcester City midfielder Tom Warmer.
Elsewhere, Kidderminster Harriers visit Wulfrunians, of the West Midlands League Premier Division (7.30pm), as they continue a busy pre-season schedule.
The Aggborough outfit played two matches on Saturday, winning 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors match against West Brom at the Premiership club’s training ground, before losing 2-1 at Romulus.
Several of the squad featured in both games, including midfielder Callum Gittings and defender Mickey Demetriou.
With a trip to Stourport Swifts due on Thursday, Harriers are again likely to use a raft of players, but assistant manager Gary Whild is happy with progress.
He said: “The most pleasing thing for us at the moment is that the general fitness of the lads is very strong.”
Swifts will attempt to play their friendly at Wellington tonight (7.30pm) after Saturday’s game was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
Westfields, who won 1-0 at Pershore Town at the weekend, travel to Rhayader Town (7.45pm).
