Villa pull out of Evesham game

ASTON Villa have pulled out of their friendly against Evesham United because of a spate of injuries.

An under 21s side from the Premier League club were due to take on the Robins at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium on Thursday.

But some of Villa’s players are struggling for fitness and they also have a tournament in Holland to negotiate this weekend — the Fitland Talent Cup hosted by Fortuna Sittard — for which they had to draft in a number of younger players.

It means today’s match with Chasetown (3pm) is Evesham’s last scheduled friendly before the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West season starts on Saturday, August 18.
