Nomads cricketers ease to big Bromyard success

WORCESTER Nomads recorded the largest Worcestershire Cricket League victory of the weekend with a 215-run success at Bromyard.

Liam O’Driscoll once again confirmed his status as Division One’s premier all-rounder with 129 in 86 balls out of 360-6 and then took 6-29 to complete the rout.

This third successive 24-point win edged Nomads four points ahead of Pershore with six rounds left and these two have now got a lead of 30 on all the rest.

Oldswinford scraped a seven-run win at home to Colwall to take over third place from Droitwich, who became Coombs Wood’s second victims of the season.

Division Two leaders Burghill skittled Feckenham for 85 thanks to 6-22 from Kiwi star Byron Newton and they are 13 points ahead of Worcester Dominies, who beat Netherton.

Division Three saw a narrow eight-run win for leaders Cookley at Birlingham, who drop to fourth after a winning draw for Harvington over Himbleton and a win for Tenbury, who thrashed 11th-placed Malvern.

Division Four leaders Avoncroft lost out in a draw at Lye with the home side regaining the head of the table in the process.

Ross beat Old Hill to jump to second, while fourth-placed Bromsgrove were also only able to get a losing draw at OEs.

Division Five leaders West Malvern have slipped as they were frustrated by the weather at Amblecote.

This has enabled Halesowen to overtake them by one point after beating third-placed Barnt Green.
