WORCESTER’S Josie Farrow returned with a silver and bronze medal from the Kimura Shukokai Karate International World Championships in the USA.

Farrow, a member of the Shukokai Karate Federation national team, was on top form with a silver in the senior women’s middleweight kumite final.

She also came away with a bronze in the women’s team kata at the Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic City, with Emily Powell and Katie Simpson.

Farrow attends the Worcester Kimura Shukokai Karate Club at St John’s Sports Centre and is now training hard for the European Championships equivalent next May in Finland.

Her eighth dan chief instructor, Shihan Eddie Daniels, was pleased with her performance and believes more hard work could deliver further medals at the European event.

Worcester’s Solfrid Daniels, one of the coaches for the SKF national squad, also achieved her sixth dan. She is now the most senior grade of the women in the world of KSI.

Anyone interested in training can visit the club in St John’s, call 07958-488148 or visit shukokai-skf.com.
