WORCESTER St John’s club host the Worcester News Road Race sponsored by the Green Bike Company on Sunday.

The 125-kilometre open event starts from Kempsey Community Centre at around 10.30am with elite national riders among those expected to be competing.

Meanwile, the city club’s 10-mile time trial at Callow End saw 25 riders compete in cool conditions.

Rob Nicholls was the fastest rider on the night in 22 minutes 53 seconds with Malvern club Velo Sevale’s Jez Pile second with 23.10.

Phil Blacker was third in 22.14 and Nathan Preece, in only his second race after a long lay-off, finished fourth in 24.02.

Saints will be at Severn Stoke next Tuesday doing a 10-mile time trial starting at the top of the hill at 6.30pm and new riders are welcome.
