TOWERING defender Exodus Geohaghon has been handed the captain’s armband as Kidderminster Harriers launch their 2012-13 campaign.
The 6ft 5ins centre-half, one of manager Steve Burr’s summer recruits, takes over the role from left-back Mike Williams.
Geohaghon has a wealth of experience, having played for Peterborough in the Championship, as well as Rotherham and Port Vale.
The 27-year-old finished last season on loan at Mansfield from Darlington and helped the Stags into the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.
Burr, whose side visit Lincoln City in today’s league opener (3pm), said: “The likes of Keith Briggs, Mike and a number of others are all fantastic leaders and don’t need an armband to show that.
“We just feel the extra responsibility will be a boost for Exodus and I’ve no doubt that, with it, he’ll really lead by example for the younger members of the squad.”
Burr has been linked with a move for former Nuneaton and Telford striker Lee Moore, 26.
He is likely to be without three forwards at Lincoln – Jamille Matt is unavailable and Anthony Malbon (chest infection) and veteran Steve Guinan (twisted ankle) are both doubts.
