KIDDERMINSTER Harriers hope the arrival of Richard Peniket from Fulham will help them to their first point of the season.

The Aggborough outfit, bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier after losing their first five matches, have swooped for the 6ft 3ins Wales Under 21 international on loan until January 6.

Having only scored two goals this season and with striker Jamille Matt still waiting for clearance from the UK Border Agency to play, manager Steve Burr has bolstered the ranks ahead of tomorrow’s trip to winless Barrow (3pm).

Bromsgrove-born Peniket, 19, was on loan at Hereford United in League Two last season without scoring.

With the transfer window slamming shut tonight, it remains unclear whether captain Exodus Geohaghon will be a Harriers player for the Holker Street clash.

The central defender, who signed a one-year contract with the club in July, is a target for rivals Mansfield Town and wants to join the Stags.

Burr said: “The chairman [Mark Serrell] and I will do what’s best for the club. “We’re not going to just let Exodus leave, we have to make sure we look after our own interests. He’s still our player.”

Defeat at Dartford last Saturday left Harriers as the only team in the division without a point and their woes were compounded by Monday’s 1-0 home reverse to 10-man Forest Green Rovers.

Burr added: “It’s the same scenario as last week but something has to give and hopefully we can get a win.

“Our performances haven’t been awful but we find ourselves where we are and we have got to deal with it. The sooner we can get a win, the better.”

Harriers, who have lost all four games they have played at Barrow since 1999, could recall defender Ryan Austin but keeper Danny Lewis and midfielder James Vincent are fitness doubts with groin strains.
