HEREFORD United tackle Grimsby Town tomorrow (3pm) looking to record their third home victory in a row.

The Bulls have made a strong start to the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign, taking 10 points from their first five games.

Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at early leaders Newport County was the first since manager Martin Foyle took charge but they remain unbeaten at Edgar Street after beating Macclesfield Town and Ebbsfleet United.

Foyle knows it won’t be easy adding the Mariners, unbeaten on their travels, to that list but he has been impressed with his players and is keen for them to continue their efforts.

With his team in form and finances tight, the Hereford boss is expecting a quiet transfer deadline day today.

He said: “I am happy with the performances but you are always looking to bring fresh blood in to keep people on their toes.

“But those in the squad have done very well in the first five games and there are a lot of plusses. I haven’t got any fault at the moment but I will probably assess it after 10 matches.”

The Bulls boss, who saw midfielder Harry Pell miss a first-half penalty at Newport, added: “The first two home games of the season were im-portant for us to get the run going and put the doom and gloom of previous seasons behind us.

“We are pleased so far but are not going to let that work go to waste. I told the players Newport and Grimsby would be two tough games because I know their experience and what they are spending.

“I thought the benchmark was against Newport and there was nothing in the game. If we had bagged the penalty, it could have been different. “I expect it to be a very tough match against Grimsby as well.”

Hereford have no fresh injury concerns ahead of taking on a Grimsby side who have six points from their opening five fixtures.

After three draws, Rob Scott and Paul Hurst’s men sprang a surprise by beating big-spending Mansfield Town 4-1 at Blundell Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
