DROITWICH Spa boys’ and girls’ club were among the winners of 2012 FA Community Awards presented by McDonald’s.
The club, which involves more than 400 children in football, bagged the FA Charter Standard Community Club accolade for their work in the town.
Grassroots heroes in Worcestershire were nominated across eight categories.
Rock Sports Youth, based at Callow Hill, near Bewdley, won the FA Charter Standard club of the year gong on a county and regional level.
Worcestershire FA development officer Ted Grizzell said: “It’s great to see volunteers who dedicate time and effort to grassroots football in Worcestershire having the opportunity to be rewarded.
“We appreciate the work every single volunteer in the county puts in and it makes us very proud to be given the chance to recognise a handful of these unsung heroes.”
Nominations for the 2013 awards will open towards the end of the season. For more details or to volunteer, see worcestershirefa.com.
