Carlisle suffers broken ankle Carlisle suffers broken ankle

FLY-half Tom Carlisle suffered a broken ankle in a bad night for a youthful Worcester Cavaliers side, who were thrashed 82-0 by local rivals Gloucester United on the opening night of the new Aviva ‘A’ League season.

The injury to the young play-maker leaves first XV head coach Richard Hill stretched at stand-off with just Carlisle’s older brother Joe and Andy Goode as his only fit 10s, as Danny Gray has already been sidelined by shoulder surgery.

Gloucester named a power-packed side crammed full of experience with the likes of Andy Hazel, Pete Buxton, Tim Molenaar as well as summer recruits Drew Locke, Rob Cook and Shane Monahan.

Worcester had a youthful look to their line-up with a number of guest players.
