WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley was critical of his side’s performance following the 0-0 draw at Histon.

Despite the St George’s Lane team stretching their unbeaten start to six games and are fourth in Blue Square Bet North, they failed to score for the first time this season.

Histon had the better chances at Bridge Road, with skipper Stuart Whitehead having to clear off the line, although Danny Glover did put a header against the crossbar in the second-half.

Heeley said: “I am bitterly disappointed with the performance, I don’t think we got anywhere near what we’re capable of.

“We looked a little bit devoid of ideas at times and we couldn’t get going. I thought we had some decent situations but we didn’t really trouble their keeper.

“In fairness to Histon, they are a young side and we knew if we let them knock the ball around their confidence levels would increase and that’s exactly what happened. We didn’t do enough to win the game.

“We can look at six games unbeaten but there’s a lot more to come from us. Overall we’re satisfied and if you had offered us that at the start of the season we would have taken it.”

But he added: “I thought, as a unit, we defended extremely well. Stuart Whitehead came to our rescue a couple of times but he’s vastly experienced and a big player for us.

“Along with the other three players and the keeper, I thought they were outstanding defensively.”
