Harriers pressure rewarded with a draw
5:45pm Wednesday 5th September 2012 in Sport
STEVE Burr says his Kidderminster Harriers team got their rewards for piling on the pressure until the final minutes of their 1-1 Blue Square Bet Premier draw at Braintree.
Despite dominating the largest part of the game, Harriers looked to be heading home empty-handed thanks to a fine first-half goal from Danny Holman.
But the efforts on goal and deliveries into the box kept on coming and, in the end, the team drew level when defender Mickey Demetriou drilled home his first goal of the campaign to ensure the spoils were shared.
“I thought it was no more than we deserved,” said manager Burr on only Harriers’ second point of the season. “We have some good lads and they showed a lot of character to keep going.
“In the second-half I don’t think Braintree had an effort on goal and it looked like it was going to be one of those nights.
“I’ve just said to the boys that they got their rewards. I saw a lot more energy and I think it would have been a travesty had we not got something out of the game.”
