SAM Clucas is looking to use the momentum of his first goal for the club to inspire Hereford United to victory at Hyde today (3pm).

The midfielder had Edgar Street buzzing last Tuesday when he slammed in a shot from the edge of the box to double his side’s lead, given to them by Ashley Sammons.

It proved enough as Woking were unable to restore parity after Kevin Betsy had halved the deficit with nine minutes left on the clock.

Having been on the receiving end of back-to-back defeats against Newport County and Grimsby Town, it lifted the Bulls to sixth in the Blue Square Bet Premier and Clucas is aiming for another three points at Ewen Fields.

He said: “We lost a bit of confidence, losing two on the trot, but we knew we had the quality to bounce back and knew we would score goals.

“We played well against Newport and that could have gone either way but it’s good to get three points on the board. Now, hopefully, we can carry it on at Hyde.”

The 22-year-old former Lincoln City player added of his Woking heroics: “Fortunately it landed right in front of me. I want to score as many goals as I can but it was a good team performance.”
