Make Senior Cup worth winning
THIS season, Worcester City will be one of just five teams competing in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup.
Holders Stourbridge, Kidderminster Harriers and Evesham United have all been given byes to the semi-finals, while City will play Redditch United, on a date to be set, to complete the last-four line-up.
Numbers have dropped because Stourport Swifts are no longer eligible following their relegation to the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance, meaning they will be among 10 teams now contesting the Senior Urn.
With so few sides now involved in what is supposed to be the County’s premier cup competition, it is in danger of becoming a farce.
Why not make it a pre-season event or combine it with the Urn? Anything to at least make it more competitive.
