Taylor and Thorley keep home record going

WORCESTER City continued their 100 per cent home record in Blue Square Bet North with a 2-1 victory over Droylsden.

Michael Taylor's header five minutes before the break was cancelled out by an own goal from Stuart Whitehead six minutes into the second-half.

But Tom Thorley made it four wins on the spin at St George's Lane this season with a penalty 18 minutes from time.

Manager Carl Heeley, who employed a 4-3-3 system for the first time this term, said: "We set out with a game plan today and it worked to a tee.

"Apart from a 10 to 15 minute spell at the start of the second-half, we played some great stuff and it's pleasing to see. That's how we want to see our team playing.

"We felt individually we were better in areas than them and I thought our three in the centre of the park dictated the game for a large part of it."

Early days I know and the table shows Droylsden are 3rd bottom, but on that performance you would say they are more likely 3rd top.

Fine game, well done City, the double substitution of Reece and Breeze injected pace at the right time.

A bit more steadiness in front of goal and the last few minutes would have been easier to bear.
