LEDBURY’S Terry Jenkins rounded off a successful time at the PDC Player’s Championship at the Barnsley Metrodome, reaching the fourth round on Sunday after a semi-final appearance the previous day.
Jenkins, seeded 13th on Saturday, saw off fourth seed James Wade and in-form Australian Simon Whitlock to earn a semi-final place against Ian ‘Diamond’ White.
The man from Stoke-on-Trent proved too strong for him, however, whitewashing The Bull 6-0. Dutchman Michael van Gerwen went on to take the title.
On Sunday, Jenkins continued his form, progressing comfortably to the last 16 with an average of 106, before narrowly losing out 6-5 to Saturday’s winner, Van Gerwen.
Whitlock, a quarter-finalist from Saturday, took Sunday’s winnings, securing his first ranking title in two years after defeating Englishman Andy Hamilton 6-4 in the final.
