GORNAL Athletic manager Ian Rowe says his team are ready to give their all as they seek an FA Cup upset against Worcester City .

Saturday’s second qualifying round clash at the Garden Walk Stadium is one of the biggest games in the in-form Midland Alliance outfit’s 93-year history.

While it is Worcester’s first outing in the competition this season, newly-promoted Gornal have already won three matches to reach this stage.

Rowe’s team have only lost once in 11 league and cup matches and the boss expects them to give Carl Heeley’s team a stern test.

“We have got a winning mentality,” he said. “We are playing a side three leagues above us but the boys have got a never-say-die attitude and I am sure they will be giving it their all.

“Whether that’s good enough remains to be seen, but that’s why we all love the cup — it gives the minnows a crack at the big boys.”

Rowe added: “It’s certainly the biggest game since I have been at the club. We are looking forward to it 100 per cent.

“In some ways this is our cup final, to get a Conference North side at home is as good as it can get at this stage.

“We have started the season well, we’re at home, it’s the FA Cup and we will be giving it a go.”

Worcester manager Heeley said: “There are always shocks and this club had one last year and we’re guarded against that.

“I don’t want to go through that again and neither do any of the players.

“We’ll give them the respect, get the job done and get out of there.”

Winger Greg Mills is available for the Gornal clash having served a one-match ban in the 2-1 victory over Droylsden last Saturday.
