MANAGER Steve Burr insists nobody is feeling sorry for themselves at Kidderminster Harriers following their winless start to the campaign.

Harriers have failed to register a victory in their first nine games and are rooted to the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Alfreton Town (3pm).

However, they are unbeaten in four matches and last Saturday’s 0-0 Aggborough stalemate against Grimsby was their first clean sheet in 15 games, a sequence stretching back to March.

Alfreton’s last two matches brought a draw at promotion-chasing Forest Green Rovers and victory over Luton but Burr is not going to let that worry his players.

“With the situation we are in, all games are difficult but the one thing is we are not feeling sorry for ourselves,” he said.

“We are getting on with it and there’s a positive atmosphere to try and turn things around and get winning.

“We are still looking for that first victory and I think the sooner we can get that the better as it’s becoming a bit of a monkey on our backs.

“We are creating enough chances to win games. We have to start putting the ball in the net. Once we get that, we will be OK.

“We have drawn the last four games and came up against a Grimsby side who had only lost once but created chances as we have done in other matches.”

Harriers are looking to draft in cover for the long-term injured midfield duo of Jack Byrne (Achilles) and Kyle Storer, who is expected to be out for six weeks after knee surgery.

Centre-half Josh Gowling, an influential figure in their unbeaten run, is on the road to recovery following a bout of food poisoning and could be involved.
