MARTIN Foyle has called on Hereford United to start playing like a team again when they take on Cambridge United tomorrow (3pm).

The Bulls are looking to bounce back after turning in two of their worst performances of recent times, following up a 5-2 hammering at Hyde with a 4-0 drubbing at Dartford.

The results against part-time clubs led manager Foyle to admit his side’s start to the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign, which featured just two defeats in seven, had brought false hope.

He was unhappy with the way players had let performances slide and wants an improvement against the U’s who have shipped seven goals in their last two matches.

“Maybe it was a bit of false hope starting the way we did, building ourselves up to be better than we were, but we have been brought down to earth with a big bang,” the Hereford boss said.

“If you look at the DVD of the Dartford game, players were way out of position when we didn’t have the ball so there was a lot wrong and we haven’t done that in previous games.

“We have to get those two games out of our system in terms of being brave and wanting to get on the ball.

“I can’t fault the players’ attitudes but the young ones have to learn very quickly and I want a bit more from my seniors in terms of organisation and pulling the younger ones round.

“The youngsters can’t play free and easy, it’s a team game and we have got to get back to being a team. The standards haven’t been good enough.”

Centre-half Michael Townsend continues to struggle with the back problem that has kept him out of the last three matches.

The versatile Chris Carruthers (heel) and midfielder Simon Clist (ankle) are improving after coming off against Dartford.
