WORCESTER City expect to be at full-strength for the first time this season as they start out on the road to Wembley at Gornal Athletic tomorrow (3pm).

After being without at least one player through either injury or suspension every week since the start of the campaign, manager Carl Heeley could have his whole squad available for the second qualifying round clash.

Strikers Danny Glover and Michael Taylor both climbed out of their sick beds for last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Droylsden and are now back to 100 per cent.

Defender Shabir Khan has recovered from the groin strain that has kept him out of the last four Blue Square Bet North matches, while Rob Elvins has shaken off the hip problem that has plagued him in recent games.

Fellow midfielder Matt Breeze returned from a three-match ban against Droylsden, appearing as a second-half substitute, and winger Greg Mills is also back in contention following suspension.

There is a slight doubt over Matt Birley, the attacking midfielder having sustained a knee injury, but Heeley is optimistic of him also being ready for the Garden Walk Stadium clash, leaving the manager with plenty of options.

Three divisions separate City from their Baker Joiner Midland Alliance hosts and Heeley is calling on his side not to treat them lightly, particularly after Worcester were dumped out of the competition at the same stage 12 months ago by Godalming Town.

The City boss said: “It’s about being professional and matching them.

“They are going to be trying to cause an upset and we need to match that enthusiasm and hopefully the quality will come through.

“I am positive we have got the quality and I have faith in the players. We know what we are going to do and have been working on it in training. It’s geared up to what we have seen with Gornal.

“The only slight concern we have at the moment is with Matt Birley with a knock on his knee and that would affect what we do.”

Gornal, who have won three matches in the cup so far, have only lost one of their five league games this term and are through to the FA Vase first round after winning 2-0 at Nuneaton Griff last Saturday.

Ian Rowe’s newly-promoted team are riding on the crest of a wave and have Marvin Nisbett, brother of former Halesowen Town striker Justin, in their side.
