Worcester Racecourse to hold an inspection of water-logged track

RACING chiefs at Worcester have called an inspection for 8am tomorrow ahead of Friday's meeting as the Pitchcroft track is currently unraceable.

There is water on the course in two areas and clerk of the course Fergus Cameron is also keeping a close eye on the nearby River Severn.

He said: "We have not flooded, although the river is very high. We have got surface water on the run-in and the Cathedral bend, so we are unraceable at present as there is no racing line we can take. The remainder of the track is fine though.

"The rate the river is rising has slowed, but what happens further north would be more of an influence than what happens in Worcester. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will take a further view tomorrow."
