A RAFT of Warriors’ injured stars are on the verge of returning to full fitness with Richard Hill set to have at least five players back for next week’s game at Wasps.

Worcester are still short of options for tomorrow night’s Aviva Premiership encounter with London Irish at Sixways (8pm) but the head coach is pleased to see his chronic injury list beginning to shorten.

He said: “With some of the returning players having featured for the Cavaliers on Monday, tomorrow’s game is a bit too close for any of them to be involved, but they’ll be in contention for the Wasps game (on October 7).

“Ed Shervington, Blair Cowan and Neil Best will be available for selection for that match and there is good news on the rest.

“Paul Hodgson could well be back for Wasps too, which is good news, while Jon Clarke will certainly be available as will Ravai Fatiaki. The week after that, the likes of Errie Claassens, Andy Short and Jake Abbott will join them – so all but Danny Gray and Tevita Taumoepeau should be back very soon.”

On the Exiles contest, Hill added: “We are going to try one or two different things to make sure we start the game better — to get the boys really up for it before they go out.

“The atmosphere is always really good on a Friday night — we’ve only conceded one try at our ground in the opening two games.

“That is a proud record and one we will want to maintain.”

A 'raft' of injured 'stars', now don't that conjure up some magic.
Watch out Wasps, I say.
