MIKE Symons insists Worcester City are determined to get back to winning ways when they visit Solihull Moors tonight (7.45).

City had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Harrogate Town at St George’s Lane last Saturday after letting a two-goal lead slip.

The striker admits the team did not play well and has called on his colleagues to set the record straight at Damson Park.

He said: “It was a frustrating afternoon for everyone involved, we didn’t play the best all round. We owe a performance to everyone so I think the lads will put 100 per cent in and hopefully get a result.

“We weren’t playing well (last Saturday) but we got the lead at 2-1 and to concede so late again is massively frustrating for the lads.

“It was a bad day at the office so we just want to put it right and show people what we can do.

“When we scored against Harrogate we got the ball down and we’ve got to do that again.”

Symons was hobbling as he left the Lane and could be a doubt, while Matt Birley’s knee is still giving cause for concern despite him starting at the weekend.

However, Charlie Reece, Matt Breeze and Danny Glover all came off the bench against Harrogate, with the latter putting Worcester ahead for the second time in the 80th minute. Manager Carl Heeley knows he has options and has not ruled out handing starts to that trio against Solihull as City bid for their first away win in Blue Square Bet North.

“It’s given us food for thought, we’ve got a good squad of players and we’ve also got to bear in mind the FA Cup game because that’s important to us,” Heeley said.

“If we feel we need to freshen it up and give boys their opportunity then we’ll do it. It’s three games within eight days so there’s a good chance those boys will get their opportunity.”

He added: “I think we’ve proved that on our day we are capable of winning anywhere and that’s good. It’s a local derby, it won’t be easy and Solihull know all about us and we know all about them.”

“We’ve got to go there and have some desire and show a little bit more than they do.”

Solihull, who have former Worcester players Jay Denny and Tom Kemp in their ranks, lost 2-1 at Vauxhall Motors last Saturday.
