HOOKER Ed Shervington and replacement Dan Young were try-scorers as Worcester Cavaliers lost 43-14 to Leicester Tigers in the Aviva ‘A’ League at Welford Road last night.

Kieran Brookes opened the scoring for the hosts, before Shervington pushed his claims for a call-up to the senior team with a well-worked score down the left after forward pressure from the Cavaliers. Joe Carlisle’s conversion levelled the scores after quarter of an hour.

The visiting pack went close on several occasions against a well-drilled home eight, before Leicester regained the lead when Lucas Guillame pushed his way over.

Henry Purdy then sent Tigers further ahead just before the break with a superb finish and Mathew Tait then marked his return to action after a lengthy spell out with a try early in the second-half.

Cavaliers responded again as they kept possession through a number of phases close to the Tigers try-line, before Young stepped inside the covering defence to score under the posts. Carlisle added the extras as the visitors trailed 22-14.

Purdy secured the game as he finished a sweeping move, while Lewington and Williams scored late tries to complete a home victory.
