Owumi is named in league’s top team

WORCESTER Wolves star Alex Owumi has been rewarded for his showing against Manchester Giants with a place in the British Basketball League’s team of the week.

The 27-year-old guard scored 25 points and claimed seven rebounds and five assists in the 92-80 victory last Saturday.

Owumi’s efforts followed his placing on the team of the week bench last month and also after switching from off guard to point guard in the continued absence of Sherrad Prezzie-Blue.

Worcester director of basketball Paul James said: “He has filled in admirably for Prezzie at the point guard position while still being able to give the team solid output in other areas.

“I am sure this recognition in the team of the week will be the first of many.”

Owumi is joined in the team’s starting five by Jeremy Bell (Plymouth Raiders), James Jones (Manchester Giants), David Watts (Manchester Giants) and Darius Defoe (Newcastle Eagles).
