MANAGER Steve Burr believes Kidderminster Harriers are establishing a defence to silence any Blue Square Bet Premier strike force.

Following the addition of former Lincoln City player Josh Gowling at the end of August, Harriers have been able to call on the same back four, and keeper Nathan Vaughan, for the last six league matches.

In that time they have conceded less than a goal a game with Burr being particularly impressed with their efforts in repelling Macclesfield in last Saturday’s 3-0 victory at Aggborough.

Such displays have given the club a foundation to build on and, coinciding with the forwards finally finding their feet, Harriers are now out of the bottom four ahead of today’s trip to Ebbsfleet United (3pm).

The Kidderminster boss said: “Defending is part of the game which sometimes gets overlooked but that win was built on it.

“Now we feel we can go to most places and keep the opposition at bay.”

Meanwhile, Harriers have had two players selected for the England ‘C’ side to take on Albania under 21s later this month.

New signing Adam Watkins, who has joined on a month’s loan from Luton, and fellow midfielder James Vincent are both in Paul Fairclough’s 16-man squad for the away match in Durres on Tuesday, October 16.
