Ten-man City get another chance after Cup thriller

WORCESTER City earned an FA Cup replay in a pulsating 1-1 third qualifying round draw at Weston-super-Mare.

Having fallen behind to Kane Ingram’s 12th-minute strike, City were reduced to 10 men when Charlie Reece was sent off for a foul on keeper Lloyd Irish.

The hosts were also a man light by the break after Jamie Laird was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

But Worcester controlled the second period and deservedly drew level when Matt Breeze fired home from 25 yards with seven minutes left.

However, despite their dominance, it needed a superb last-minute save from Matt Sargeant to deny Chas Hemmings and set up Monday’s replay at St George’s Lane.

Striker Danny Glover said: “I’m glad for the boys, I think we did really well and deserved a replay, if not deserved to win it today. But we’ll take them back to the Lane on Monday and we’ve got every chance to go through.

“After we went down to 10 men early, on the whole I thought that’s the best we’ve played keeping the ball. We didn’t really create many chances but considering we were down to 10 men I thought we kept the ball pretty well.”
