Victoria claim a vital Worcester League win

THE Worcester and District Football League Sunday Division Three relegation battle between Whitehall Albion and Malvern Victoria saw an emphatic 10-3 victory for the latter side.

Andy Lancett netted four times with brother Nick hitting a hat-trick, while Eliot Hardy notched both goals in the University of Worcester’s 2-1 home win over Claines.

In Division Five, there were hat-tricks for Jim Wilkes of Pig & Drum, who thrashed Blackpole Sports 7-0, and Mark Edwards as GDL Athletic Reserves won 4-2 at Westside Wanderers. Riverside failed to stem the tide at Garibaldi, Andy Mason and Nathan Bullock both bagging a brace as the home team sailed home 7-1.

Worcester City Wanderers beat Droitwich RBL 3-0 in Division Four, Jordan Powell bagging two as did Stuart Harvey of Powick Reserves, 5-3 winners against Pillar of Salt Korono.

Ian Farney scored twice for Inter Express, who shared six goals with Hallow in Division Two.

Malvern Radar occupy second place on goal difference behind Heenans in Division One after a 6-2 success at Droitwich Sports. Lee Mason netted four times for the winners. Heenans won 3-1 at home to Kempsey.

John Pykett fired a treble and Lee Collier a double as Colwall St James crushed New Barbourne 5-0. Phil Marsh cracked a hat-trick for Goodrest Juniors who beat St John’s 6-2.

In the Premier Division, Ash Millard grabbed a hat-trick as Upton Snodsbury defeated CMB Sports 4-1. There was a brace each for Dean Roberts of Arrow 2000, who beat Martley Spurs 4-1, and Ben Stanley in Perrywood’s 4-0 victory at Wychbold RBL.

In the Saturday League, Worcester Raiders made it five wins out of five at the top of Division One, Ben Harborne hitting a hat-trick as they thumped St George’s 6-1. Arrow 2000, who meet Raiders next week, are hot on their heels as Ben Uren and Lee Seldon both cracked trebles in their 7-1 demolition of Newtown Sports.

Teenager Micky Bryant was another hat-trick hero as Hallow drew 3-3 with the University. Powick had a narrow 4-3 win over The Red Lion, Dave Knapper bagging two for Powick as did Luke Griffin for the Lion.

Worcester Anchors sunk Foregate 7-2 in Division Two with the prolific Simon Hill netting four times and Mike Tattersfield adding a brace.

There were two goals each for Luke Suthard of Sylla who won 3-1 at Leigh & Bransford Badgers and Adam Jones as Pig & Drum lost 4-2 at home to Perrywood.
