GOALKEEPER James Bittner wants Hereford United to build on their recent solid defensive displays and return to winning ways.

The Bulls have drawn their last two Blue Square Bet Premier games 0-0 against Braintree and Nuneaton, the first time they have kept a clean sheet since the middle of August.

But they have not won in five attempts and will hope to rectify that at FC United of Manchester in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round today (3pm).

Bittner, who joined the club in the summer from Forest Green Rovers, said: “Two clean sheets in a row makes us feel good.

“As a back four and a keeper, it’s nice to keep clean sheets. Up until Nuneaton, we had let in a fair few goals which was not good for us as a team or for me.

“But, at the same time, we’ve not scored in two games so, whereas before we were banging in goals and conceding them, now we’re obviously tight but we’ve stopped scoring as well.

“It’s pleasing in a way but really we need to start turning the draws into wins. It’s a bit frustrating but at least we have stopped losing games.”

l Former Hereford midfielder Kevin Sheedy has returned to work at Everton’s academy following a successful fight against bowel cancer.
