HEREFORD United and Kidderminster Harriers were rewarded with home ties against League One clubs in the FA Cup first round.

They earned £12,500 for progressing from the fourth qualifying stage on their travels at the weekend with Harriers beating Grimsby Town 4-2 and Bulls sinking FC United of Manchester 2-0.

Hereford will now face old rivals Shrewsbury Town, who are managed by former boss Graham Turner, on the weekend of November 3 and 4.

Kidderminster host Paul Dickov’s Oldham Athletic, while Bromley, who beat Worcester City 1-0 on Saturday, have been drawn at League Two big-spenders Fleetwood Town.

Harriers boss Steve Burr said: “It was strange to see us as the first ball out of the bag because I’m used to watching draws and thinking, ‘They’d be good’ or ‘I’d want to avoid them’.

“But it was us out first then Oldham and you have to say it’s a good tie. It’s something we deserve because we’ve not had much luck with cup draws over the past few seasons.

“It’s great to be facing a League One side and a club of Oldham’s size. They’ll feel they’re on a hiding to nothing and that people will be expecting them to win.”
