WORCESTER Golf and Country Club’s popular Jubilee Bowls competition at Boughton Park was won by John Warham and Colin Webb.

Pairs are matched randomly and no-one knows until the day of the competition who their partner will be.

Warham and Webb tore the field apart in the morning session, setting a massive 50-point target.

Playing the stableford format off three-quarters handicap, Warham (16) and Webb (13) recorded a total of six birdies on their score card.

Not surprisingly, no other teams came near to replacing the leaders, but four pairings all recorded 44 points, so the minor placings were settled by the count-back system.

In second spot were Alan Hempson and James Currie, third place went to Dennis Hall and Barry Harris, while Martin Bennett and Jordan Hick were fourth.

In the club’s junior medal, nine-year-old Aaron Bryan, playing off a handicap of 44 and also taking part in his first medal, finished in top spot thanks to a score of 103-44-59. Bryan, whose brother Josh is one of the promising crop of juniors at Boughton Park, just pipped Benjamin Blackmore (96-36-60).

Benjamin finished three shots ahead of Josh Beale (86-23-63) and Christopher Colenso (79-16-63).

The best gross score of the day was recorded by Currie (73-4-69).
