RAVENMEADOW Golf Club hosted the second round of the inaugural Wyvern Cup against neighbouring Perdiswell Park and the away team pressed home their first-leg advantage to hoist the silverware.

The first round was played at Perdiswell when the home team gained a resounding lead by winning six of the seven points on offer.

However, it was a different scenerio in the return leg at Ravenmeadow, with the home team showing their mettle to collect four out of the seven points.

The damage had been done, though, in the first round, so Perdiswell will hold the trophy for the next 12 months after an overall match score of 9-5.

The cup was the brainchild of the two clubs’ captains and it will be contested annually between teams of 14 playing in pairs matchplay competition.

Even though all the players were extremely competitive, the match was played in a friendly and sporting manner. The participants all felt they had gained a great deal from the experience and are looking forward to the meeting next year.
