LEE Vaughan has joined Football League 2 side Cheltenham Town on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old was offered a new deal by Kidderminster Harriers but decided to end his four-year tenure at the Aggborough outfit but could not turn down a move into the Football League.

Since joining the club during in the summer of 2010 from Telford, Vaughan has become one of the best right-backs in the Conference Premier.

He was voted the fans' player of the season last season for his consistent displays.

Vaughan made a total of 178 appearances for Harriers.

Manager Gary Whild said: “Since the day he came into the club, Lee has done fantastically and I made it a priority when I came back as manager to try and sort something out with him.

“We did our best and I am sure Lee will be the first to tell you that we’ve done all we can to try and keep him and that we couldn’t have done any more.”

“Whilst we’re disappointed to lose him we’re delighted to see Lee move into the League and I really hope he goes on to do as well in League 2 and beyond as he has done here at Kidderminster.”
