KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are hoping to attract a 4,000-strong crowd for Saturday’s top-of-the-table Vanarama Conference clash against Gateshead as part of Non-League Day.

The Reds and Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust (KHIST) have worked hard to entice an army of fans from the region’s top-flight clubs for the highly-anticipated game at Aggborough (3pm kick-off).

Harriers have reduced admission prices in order to attract followers of Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion, who have all been left with free weekends because of the international break.

“This is a great opportunity for fans who have experienced non-league football before to see what it’s all about,” said KHIST spokesman Karl Davies.

“Harriers have a top-of-the-table clash against Gateshead and it’s going to be a great showcase for the club.

“Watching football at Harriers is completely different and I think supporters of Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers will be pleasantly surprised.

“Even better, fans can stand in sections of Aggborough which is definitely something some supporters of top flight clubs have not had the pleasure of doing before.

“We’d love it if there was a gate of 4,000 to cheer Harriers on.”

Kidderminster are fifth in the table after Saturday’s 1-0 win at Dover and they will have their unbeaten start to the season tested by Gary Mills’ Gateshead side, who made the play-offs last season and are third.

WithKidderminster making a plea for new investors to back the club, they are hoping to retain new fans.

“We remain supportive of Kidderminster Harriers and continue to monitor the situation,” added Davies.

“That’s why Non-League Day is so important, it’s a chance for the club to showcase itself to a whole new group of people.”

Manager Gary Whild said: “When people come to watch Harriers for the first time they are always surprised by the quality on display.”

The club have sent Reece Hales and Josh O’Keefe on loan to Stourbridge and Telford, respectively, for a month.

Harriers go to Southport on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
