GARY Whild felt Harriers deserved their slice of luck as they defeated Welling 2-1 last night.
A deflected first half strike by Jared Hodgkiss and a scrappy goal which was eventually awarded to Chey Dunkley settled a game which drifted for long periods.
But it ended a run of two games without a win and moved them within two points of the Vanarama Conference top five.
"We've played a lot better and got nothing, so it was one of those where we we're glad to get the three points," said Whild.
"If we could have scored a third goal we could have relaxed but we cleared our heads and saw it through. The three points was the main thing.
"We've had a little bit of luck.
"We've not been at our best but we got a win."
Harriers endured tense second half when Harry Beautyman pulled one back early in the second half but the Reds held on.
They can now look forward to Saturday's trip Barnet (3pm ko).
