GARY Whild says he’s had to cut his cloth accordingly at Kidderminster Harriers after sending two players out on loan, writes Peter McKinney.

The Reds manager has been told he must reduce the cash-strapped club’s wage bill by sending keeper Jasbir Singh and midfielder Josh O’Keefe respectively to Gloucester City and Chester on two month deals.

The support of Kath and Ernie Lane means the club’s situation remains stable in the short term but while the board seek new investors to provide a much-needed cash injection, Whild has seen his playing budget reduced.

Since being signed by former ill-fated boss Andy Thorn last January, O’Keefe has endured a difficult time, failing to replicate his excellent form at Hereford and restricted to just a handful of performances.

The 25-year-old was also subject to negativity from a section of Reds fans in the FA Cup loss to Eastleigh.

Whild said: “The club’s financial situation means we have to juggle players around to get them off the wage bill.

“Unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat, like we did when we brought in Matt Robinson from Luton, we’re not in a position to strengthen.

“It’s always good to bring in a new face, it lifts everyone and I’d like to thank John Still at Luton for helping us out.

“Obviously Josh O’Keefe has gone to Chester and he’s a player we’re not able to use after what happened against Eastleigh.

“I was shocked to hear some of the fans cheer when he went off and Josh also got some abuse from one or two.

Harriers’ supporters have been brilliant over the years I have been at the club and they are entitled to their opinion but their support is vital.”

Ex-Wrexham keeper Joslain Mayebi has been training with the squad and could be used as back-up to first choice shot-stopper Danny Lewis.

Harriers’ finances will be one of a number of topics which will be discussed during tonight’s fans forum.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster Harriers will be without club captain Kyle Storer for up to three weeks after he successfully underwent hernia surgery last week.

It means he will miss Saturday’s game at high-flying Bristol Rovers on Saturday (3pm ko).

Kidderminster, who played Aldershot in a rescheduled game on Wednesday night, then go to Grimsby on November 22 and entertain Wrexham three days later.

Gary Whild added: “We’ve got three tough games coming up against sides who have all traditionally played in the Football League but are finding out how difficult winning promotion from the Conference is.

“We want to build on the excellent result against Torquay and get some momentum.

“If we’ve beaten Aldershot last night then we’ll be just outside the play-off spots, so we are not far off where we want to be.”

Despite Harriers’ cash flow worries, Whild continues to enjoy the role.

He added: “It’s an honour to be managing a club like Kidderminster Harriers.

“The club’s going through a tough time and while it’s our job to excite the fans we must also remember we’ve got professional footballers who have bills to pay.

“With the club’s financial situation there will always be uncertainty in the back of a player’s mind and it’s my job to keep them upbeat and motivated.”
